Greg Beecham

Wildlight!

[artist’s picture] “The stylistic, almost idealized golden light of Greg Beecham’s paintings is a reflection of the artist himself, his outlook on life, his spiritual faith, and his personality. You can feel the warmth.” So said Wildlife Art magazine in late 1997 and the artist himself would certainly agree. Growing up hunting, fishing, loving nature, learning to draw, and yearning to follow in his artist father’s footsteps, he has let it all combine into a career that celebrates what he immortalizes. His fluid unions of animals and their environment, lit by glorious light and warm shadows please the public and critics alike.

Wildlife that is truly wild, in the wild, has impressed Beecham and he enjoys capturing them on the move, on the prowl, at play, or on the attack. The true reward for his devotion is his family and a quiet life rich in simple pleasures in Wyoming, but he has also received awards at the prestigious C.M. Russell Auction and the Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show, among others. He was the Featured Artist at the 2000 Southeastern Wildlife Exposition and his work has been exhibited everywhere from the permanent collection of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum to the Museum of Natural History in Beijing, China.

Honoring his father, Tom Beecham, and his fellow wildlife artist Bob Kuhn, who he felt gave him “permission” to “play with paint,” Greg Beecham follows where he feels nature is leading him -- to showcase the unity of elements that make up the beauty and wonder of wildlife in the wilderness.

“I try to create interesting compositions, complemented by vivid color harmonies, light, value, and dynamic brushstrokes. My motto? Do all things unto the Lord and get so good you can’t be ignored.”
